How I Got My Cookie Business Organized (Without Losing My Mind)

When I first started my cookie business, I thought the hard part would be the baking. Spoiler: it wasn’t.

The real chaos started when I couldn’t find my icing bags. Or my favorite scribe. Or the sprinkle blend I just bought.

If you’ve ever felt like your cookie supplies are taking over your house (and your brain), this post is for you.

1. I Set Up Supply Zones

I stopped tossing everything into one giant drawer and started thinking in “zones.”

Now I keep all my decorating supplies together, my baking tools in a separate cabinet, and packaging materials in bins by the door (so I never forget them for pickup!).

 2. I Stopped Overbuying Duplicates

Once I got organized, I realized I had four of the same scribe tool and six half-used icing bags. No shame, just systems now.

A weekly 5-minute check-in keeps my inventory under control and helps me know when (and what) to reorder.

 3. I Use Clear Containers + Labels

I started using clear containers so I can see exactly what I have. No more digging. I label everything with categories like “Holiday Cutters” or “Royal Icing Tips.”

I use this setup every week, especially when prepping for holiday presales or DIY kits.

 4. I Created a “Grab + Go” Station

Instead of running around before each pickup, I created a small shelf for everything I need to pack an order—boxes, tags, cello bags, thank-you stickers, you name it.

This tiny change saved me so much time (and stress).

 5. I Added a Rolling Cart for Decorating Days

Decorating days got way easier when I stopped walking back and forth across the kitchen 100 times.

Now I just roll my decorating cart wherever I need it—stocked with my tipless bags, tools, gels, and a damp paper towel (for the piping bag tip!).

It Didn’t Happen Overnight, But It Was Worth It

Getting organized took time. I didn’t buy fancy systems or spend a fortune. I just took a step-by-step approach to get my cookie chaos under control.

And now? I can breathe. Decorating feels fun again. And I don’t have to dig through four drawers to find a piping tip.
